About the show

One Bethlehem Night is based on a book by Jeff Atwood. The Musical was written by Ed Kee and John Lemonis and has been nominated for a Dove Award.

The musical brings you back to a night when weary travelers arrived at a crowded inn in Bethlehem. Their frustration over the Roman taxes and oppression makes the hope of the promised Messiah seem like a distant, faded promise. The night takes a turn for the extraordinary when an exhausted young couple shows up looking for a room—only to be put out in the stable by the profit-hungry innkeeper. In his effort to find someone willing to give up a room, Joseph confides that the expected baby will be the Son of God. Talk of angels and the possibility of the arrival of the Messiah sparks some lively discussions—and nobody is more interested that the Rabbi Ezra. The Christmas story comes alive in this delightful and inspiring show.

The original score of the musical, performed by the 25-piece orchestra that accompanies the performers, add a richness and depth to the powerful story. The show will be a wonderful Christmas experience enjoyed by children and adults—at a price that allows you to bring family and friends!

A Minneapolis/St. Paul Church of Christ Production

The Minneapolis/St. Paul Church of Christ first produced this Musical in 2001 and 2002. This year’s production owes a lot to the exceptional team that worked on those two shows. We’re honored to have the talents of many people working on this production. A few of the people we’d especially like to thank are:

She has worked professionally in the cities as an Assistant Costume Designer at Penumbra Theatre in St Paul and assisted with costume design research for The Guthrie’s most recent production 1776.

Orchestra Conductor: Angela Barberg

Angela Barberg graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, with a B.M. in Music Education. She has taught instrumental music in both public and private schools and music studios.
